Rick and Morty, people and Fandom.

So many years ago someone I knew posted a cover photo on shitbook, an animated picture of a garage open in the moonlight. I knew it was from a show but I’m not one for watching television to be honest. I started looking at Reddit again out of boredom a while back and through Reddit became aware of Rick and Morty. Reddit being Reddit I assumed this was another circle-jerk, which to be accurate, it was.

That put me off of watching it for a long while, Reddit has a tendency to circle-jerk over things that aren’t that funny so I basically couldn’t be bothered. Eventually a friend showed me a few clips during a Friday night, the next night I ended up watching some myself. Two weeks later I found myself bored so I decided to watch a few episodes one night.

A few episodes turned into three quarters of season one, I finished the last quarter a day later. Onto season two which I watched in one night, ending up awake until around 4am. A week ago I got to season 3 episode 4 and in a way I’m glad I haven’t been watching the show the whole time because I haven’t waited for a new season until the current one is over.

The only thing I dislike about Rick and Morty is the pseudointelectuals within the fan base, other than that it’s a very enjoyable show. This lukewarm helping of copypasta will demonstrate the kind of pseudointellectual shit I’m talking about:

The other thing that gets me is fan theories, I understand taking an educated guess at what might happen but developing entire theories around characters, who has that kind of time? I’d rather spend it doing something useful.

Game of thrones fans are definitely the worst so far, I’m not slating the show at all because I’ve enjoyed much of what I’ve seen. Honestly I just don’t have the staying power to sit and watch it, even if I don’t watch it there will be someone who will tell me about it either from the show or having read the books so I’m pretty caught up. I’m also aware that fans of the series really hate spoilers and will react angrily when exposed to them.

That’s another thing I don’t get, being super pissed off by spoilers… If someone is constantly spoiling it I can understand you would be irritated but still it’s funny how emotional people get over spoilers. I can hear spoilers or even read and still appreciate the execution of the scene. Each to their own I guess? I’m still not really one for watching shows but I’ve found something to pass time when I’m bored now.

Fan bases can be crazy. I cringe when I see something like a Rick and Morty tattoo, wearing merchandise or a stranger referencing it in hopes to get a laugh. The same way I cringe when I hear or see memes used IRL. I really enjoy the show myself but the boner Reddit has for Rick and Morty is colossal.

Speaking of fandom it’s ridiculous nowadays the people who have fans. YouTube personalities get fans and merch now. Then again a judge from a reality TV show can become president of the United States so…

Personally I hope the wait for the new season isn’t too long because it’s almost the end of the season. I’ve had archer suggested to me by a friend, another show the jerk is strong for. Bob’s burgers I’m not really sure about, saying that, I’ve never even watched more than a short clip or two and that failed to hook me in the way Rick and Morty did. I may end up giving it another chance at some point if I am bored and desperate enough.

I’m not sure if anyone here has heard of Ugly Americans? My ex girlfriend introduced me to it and we watched season one and I think season 2 but they never renewed it for whatever reason. I enjoyed passing time watching that. I hope they do renew it one day but I highly doubt it, which is a shame really.

For the first time in many years I’ve actually sat down and watched a show, which makes me hope it doesn’t fall into the same traps as many other well known animated comedy has. It’s a little early to say but for now we can only hope.

Advertisements

Advertising.

Posted in The Media, TV with tags , , on June 17, 2015 by MISANTHROPIST

I’ve mentioned before that I listen to the radio, usually before work and if I need some kind of background noise. I listen almost exclusively to XFM. Worth checking out. I’ve never laughed so much, so early in the morning, in my life. I’ll get to the point now, I find this particularly irritating.

We’re no strangers to advertising, we’re bombarded by it on a daily basis. From loan adverts on television to fast food and even painted murals advertising Pitu cachaça on a wall in the north of Brazil. Even North Koreans have to deal with advertisements detailing the glorious leader’s glory. Advertisement is inescapable.

What I find irritating is when the advertisers directly target the youth, the way they do it is almost insulting to me. I’m not quite young but still considered so and personally I find their targeted advertisement insulting. I don’t know if it says something about my generation and the ones after it or I’m actually justified in my hatred of this kind of advertising.

I’m aware this isn’t a new phenomena but at least it was toned down before and confined to specific products where both the product and pitch would appeal to the target audience. They seem to be using rap, rhyme and flow to market everything from lucozade to KFC. Every other advertisement is written in rhyme or includes beat boxing or some kind of reference to the urban music scene.

You rhyming to me about how I have more sense than money or how 1066 went down just makes me cringe or switch off. I do wonder how fans of grime and hip hop take to this kind of advertisement. I wonder if they cringe as I do. It’s so low-brow it’s almost insulting. I hope this trend dies very soon.

I guess it makes it easier to follow for stupid people. I hope intelligent fans of grime, hip-hop, beat boxing and urban music find this sort of thing as annoying as I do. Surely you can market your damn product on merit of it’s quality or some other selling point… It seems so lazy. Might as well have a half naked woman telling you about how she always drinks lucozade when she’s tired.

What a crock of shit…

You had one job YouTube.

Posted in The Internet., TV with tags , , , , , , on November 25, 2014 by MISANTHROPIST

Recently I began thinking to myself, if only there were a way to watch my favourite things without hearing about the next Ancient Aliens special or whatever bullshit they are putting on the ad-breaks. My girlfriend watches a lot of documentary type stuff and my sister is an internet tv regular so I thought they would be the best people to ask, turns out my sister is useless if it isn’t TV programs you’re looking for and my girlfriend uses YouTube. I prefer watching factual/educational things because if I’m going to waste an hour of my life I may aswell learn something along the way.

I think it has to do with the imagery of the natural world. I find it relaxing and some of the scenery is truly beautiful, in a way I takes me to a place I’d rather be. Brazil has me craving more green space, London can be so grey and depressing at times. I eventually found myself on YouTube where I encountered a problem. YouTube seems very inconsistent at times with the odd episode of a David Attenborough series here and there. I just can’t seem to find anything I’m specifically interested in, even the Dinosaur/Paleontology thing I watched was a let-down. I’m surprised by that, I don’t remember Horizon being a cheap rip-off of Walking with plasticine. (My affectionate name for the BBC series Walking With Dinosaurs.)

I can’t seem to find any decent websites for that sort of watching, maybe I just need to look harder but thus far YouTube has been a huge let-down, either that or I’m just looking in all the wrong places. All the Attenborough series I’ve seen on there tend to be older or just the less interesting ones. I’m kinda disappointed actually… seems as if YouTube is only good for music, watching animals do stupid things and watching people hurt themselves.

The Ebola Virus

Posted in Death, Medical, Misanthropy, News, People, The Media, Travel, TV with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 22, 2014 by MISANTHROPIST

Before we get into this post it is important that you understand what the Ebola virus disease is. It’s pretty damn scary I’ll give you that but not quite as scary as the media would have you believe. EVD is a serious illness that requires a serious response from healthcare providers, most of them poorly equipped and trained to deal with it. Nobody expected the outbreak to spread this far but with the advent of air travel disease pandemics are a stark reality that we should, by now, be prepared for. The Ebola Virus Disease, or EVD for short, is a disease that affects primates caused by the Ebola filovirus. Symptoms start between two to twenty-one days after contracting the virus, with a fever, sore throat, muscle pain, and headaches. Typically, vomiting, diarrhea, and rash follow, along with decreased function of the liver and kidneys. Around this time, affected people may begin to bleed both within the body and externally.

That said the hollywood bleeding from all orifices image you have in your head right now is a pretty rare occurrence, I read somewhere that it happens in very few cases. Bleeding does happen but it is rarely the horror movie-esque vision we’ve all come to associate with contracting EVD. The main thing that scares people is the lethality of this virus which is up to 70%. Usually this would be a blessing in disguise in that the virus would not spread very far but in the modern world the long onset of symptoms actually works in the virus favour. Think about it, how far could you travel by air within 20 days? An outbreak in Africa could reach Europe in that time and begin a brand new outbreak half way across the globe. Luckily the person isn’t very infectious before the onset of symptoms. If it was infectious before symptoms presented then the lethality of EVD would be unprecedented.

It is actually highly unlikely that a widespread outbreak would occur in Europe or the USA because of advanced medical infrastructure, sadly Africa will not fare as well. Another thing that is unfortunate is that due to the nature of the disease healthcare providers are the ones at the highest risk of contracting EVD, as we’ve seen recently in Europe and Africa it is usually the Doctors and Nurses who suffer at the hands of EVD when carrying out vital work to stabilize their patients.  One thing that really gets me is that the worlds response to Ebola has been piss poor. Nobody gave a damn when this began and now it’s on our doorstep, only now are we working toward a vaccine and/or cure for it. I’m guessing it was assumed it would burn out much like previous outbreaks. Well it didn’t and here we are, it angers me slightly that nobody is concerned until it is on their doorstep. Such is humanity.

I can’t believe how twisted some people’s perceptions have become, whether it’s from sensationalist headlines of blatant prejudice. The media’s understanding of EVD seems to be largely hollywood and if the media are being so blatantly idiotic I probably shouldn’t expect individuals to be much better, especially the uneducated ones. Most people are unaware that you’re more likely to die of aids than Ebola. I’ve heard all sorts of shit, mostly racist shit from idiots talking as if Africans are to blame for a virus that has been around for a long time, accusing Africans of bestiality and saying the Ebola serves them right. I can hardly believe my ears at times. I’ve even heard people talking of glassing Africa in general. Then again the stupidity isn’t exclusive of white people. Many uneducated Africans don’t even believe Ebola exists because they can’t see it, yet they believe in god. Double standards much? People in the in Europe and the US don’t have the excuse of lacking education though.

Many people fail to understand the reasons behind the latest Ebola outbreak, even the ones who aren’t stupid are plain ignorant of the situation in West Africa. Make no mistake, it is an absolute clusterfuck. I’ll try to explain it the best I can. The economic situation in many parts of Africa is pretty dire, so much so that many people cannot afford farmed meat. A traditional market exists for bushmeat which has boomed in the wake to economic downturn, after all, people need to eat and nobody expects them to starve. Traditionally the people who collect bushmeat are highly knowledgable of the animals they are collecting, they would spot a diseased animal and avoid it. With the boom in the bushmeat industry greedy or just plain desperate individuals have entered the industry who lack the specialist knowledge of the veterans and from that you get people picking up diseased meat.

In most cases it isn’t a problem if it is prepared properly but with something like EVD if you cut yourself while preparing the meat you contract Ebola. Back to the economic situation, Africa is ill-prepared to deal with something like Ebola. They lack equipment and training which leads to healthcare providers becoming infected. Healthcare workers dying means less people to treat the disease. It is unfortunate but the situation in Africa is becoming unmanageable if it isn’t already out of control. What doesn’t help, again, is the lack of education and suspicious nature of the locals. Surely you’ve heard of the people who broke into the Ebola clinics and stole soiled bedding while releasing patients into a ghetto who will inevitably infect others in such cramped conditions. The whole situation is a clusterfuck and if we had gotten on top of it when it began we wouldn’t have three thousand plus dead on our hands.

I could hardly believe what I was seeing when a Fox News anchor was the voice of reason regarding the Ebola outbreak. That was something I thought I’d never see in my life time. Pigs can fly. I read somewhere that this Ebola outbreak started in 2013, so why does it take till 2014 and thousands of deaths to do something about it. That piss poor response coupled with people’s prejudices really annoys me. I’ve never been so ashamed of the people I live around. Is that person really promoting a genocidal ideology to stop the spread of Ebola? Their grandparents thought against fascism and this sort of shit and there they are condoning it. Ebola doesn’t discriminate, people do that. Shit like this feeds my misanthropy, there’s a part of me that believes the world would be a better place if they contracted Ebola but as I mentioned before Ebola won’t go out of its way to kill idiots.

I can only hope that we learn from this outbreak, lest it happen again with something far more contagious and lethal. This post probably came out nothing like I wanted it to be due to my becoming pissed off half way through writing it. I’ve wanted to write this for a while but couldn’t find a way to word it or set out the post.

AM Hates: Katie Hopkins and so does everyone else!

Sometimes you look at someone on the television and think ‘Why are you expressing your opinion in front of an audience, what makes you so special, what the fuck do you do?’

This is why I’m not big on television, if I had lived in America I might have reached for the nearest gun and fired two shots into my TV in rage and disgust. (Always double tap.) Apparently all you have to do nowadays is win The Apprentice. (Edit: She didn’t even win it.) I didn’t know of this poor excuse for a human being until around about 12hrs ago and my life was richer for it. I’ve never heard so much shit from one person in all of my life. I spent about 10 minutes wondering if she was just a gimmick, there for shock value like Simon Cowell. That said at least Cowell is funny with it and has a good idea what he’s talking about. It’s almost like she tries to drop knowledge and truths on us during these discussions but she just reveals herself to be a terrible human being.

Firstly I’d like to say I feel sorry for her children. Work comes first and they all share one birthday at a convenient time for her and one cake? You can be an asshole to many people in your life but to your kids, that’s something else. I verily dislike this woman. She’s the kind of person who takes shots at people and groups for the sake of it. She was saying how she wouldn’t hire someone who is fat or has a tattoo and that she won’t allow her children to socialize with other children based on their economic class and name. She’s just a prick of a human being. It comes to something when you go onto Google, search her ‘Katie Hopkins Should…’ and the first two suggestions are ‘be shot/die.’ Some people try so hard to be controversial they just end up being annoying, I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to punch a woman in the face before…

I was going to write a long post about her but I don’t feel like getting irritated by her any longer, in a recent karmic shift she lost her column, unfortunately she’s still on the Today Show. There’s a reason I don’t watch that crap, now I will just instantly change the channel. How is she even on TV she may be business minded but she’s most of the things I hate in a person. One thing I’m comforted by is the fact that people like this come and go, we find them funny eventually, then they give us someone to hate and after that they burn out altogether. The sooner the better. I think the lesson we can learn from Katie Hopkins, as a society, is:

6g6tKvW
If you actually feel like viewing this deplorable excuse for a human being yourself look at her twitter page of ignorance or just Google her. I’d say she’s not worth the energy but this is a spectacle indeed. Really something you have to see for yourself. She’s about as pleasing to the eye as she is to the ears so avoid an Image search unless you really must. I can help wanting to slap the dumb fuck who impregnated  this piece of human detritus. I feel bad for those poor kids must be like North Korea at home. I mean I know some people’s work comes before their children, I find that wrong personally but even those people don’t let their work affect their children’s birthdays. Their parents may be absent but the kids still have their own personal day. How must those kids feel when their friends ask them and they have to explain that they all share one birthday? Their friends inform them this isn’t normal and they are instantly weird.

It’s sad but those kids will probably end up alienated because their mother is a bitch, hopefully they’ll grow up to hate her just like everybody else does. Bitch is unsuited to have children, if she wasn’t paid like she is social services might removed those damn kids from her custody and give them to their father. Sometimes mother doesn’t know best.

The Treyvon Martin Case

Posted in America, Death, England, Legal, Misanthropy, News, People, Social Media, The Internet., The Media, TV with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 15, 2013 by MISANTHROPIST

You know something? I really didn’t want to write about this. I didn’t even really follow it but of late the case has been unavoidable even for someone who doesn’t watch the news. By now I’ve heard so many conflicting news stories and accounts its quite hard to make any sense of it at all. I wonder if the case notes are available so I can get some established facts. I have a rough idea but that’s hazy at best. It’s sad that it’s so hard to get reliable information because getting the big scoop was made a competition by greedy bastards in the media. It’s no longer about the facts, it’s about breaking the story before anyone else and reporting things that barely stand as facts. As you can tell I lost faith in the media a long time ago.

This whole case is messed up, I think that even if Treyvon attack Zimmerman his reaction was extreme and beyond the realm of reasonable force. Even if Treyvon was in the wrong in whatever he did, shooting him dead was unwarranted. Nothing in terms of innocence or guilt can be established by any evidence I’ve seen. One thing I will say is that Martin’s race should have nothing to do with this trial unless Zimmerman was heard hurling racial slurs at him before shooting him dead. I mean I’ve seen a lot of people looking at this in terms of a white on black crime when Zimmerman is Hispanic and doesn’t even pass for white.

Some people like to say that they don’t see color but that is crap. Everyone see’s color it’s a visible difference and it isn’t just skin deep, bone structure and facial structure is also visibly different between races, everybody notices that. People laugh and joke to each-other about certain stereotypes every single day, all over the world and in the next breath they’ll try to tell you they don’t see color. The differences are there. Don’t pretend they aren’t. What we should be doing is viewing each-other as human beings. Sure you’re Black, White, Asian, Indian or whatever but you’re a human being. We have differences but we’re all of the same species. We could do to remember that.

The thing that is really annoying the fuck out of me right now is that despite the fact that Zimmerman is Hispanic people view this as a white on black crime because they want to. Certain people seem to want this event to be linked to race. Anyone trying to pull the race card on this one is an idiot. The other thing that annoys me is that you people care so much about this ‘race related crime’ but black guys are dying on the street every day in black on black crime and nobody seems to give a fuck. Does it get National attention? or International attention for that matter? No. People only care because they believe race has something to do with this.

Screw the poor dude whose mother had to work fifty plus hours a week to keep him fed, who suffered because his teachers didn’t give a damn, whose poor education and prospects made it hard to get a job, the man who turned to crime to eat and who was killed on the street over a stupid amount of money or drugs. Or maybe the guy who was robbed at gunpoint for his chains, who decided he wasn’t going to get taken by some punks and was shot dead. No, nobody gives a fuck about those guy. The best part is this doesn’t have to be a black guy I’m talking about, you can apply this concept to any race. People make me sick.

Another thing, why can’t we just use our fists for a fair fight? Or non lethal personal defense weapons?
Why do we resort to guns to solve conflicts? I’m not saying guns are bad here. I enjoy shooting myself and there are situations where you are given no other choice but to resort to lethal force but an unarmed youth attacking you doesn’t warrant that kind of response. Sure whack him with a personal defense weapon but shooting?
The age of fighting fair is long gone it seems. Personally, in exceptionally rare circumstances I will fight someone in defense but even I can’t be sure if the guy I’m about to hit has a knife, any altercation is risky so in my opinion it is best to end it as quickly as possible. Guns on the street are a rarity here as you know but we have a huge knife problem in London.

This case should prompt us to ask real questions about our society and people’s perceptions of race, race related crimes and people’s assumptions. This is a big problem across the board. I find it funny how a case like this brings out the worst in all of us. We can’t come together and make a logical decision about this case from the facts. Everybody can’t help but read into it. I’ve seen white people and black people doing it. It’s sad and it’s why race is still a psychological division. Racial separation exists and will continue to exist in one form or another for a long time, maybe even forever. We as sentient beings have some very fucked up perceptions of each-other, as cliché as this sounds we all bleed red.

Back to the case it seems like Zimmerman is an overzealous asshole, the parts I’ve read about Treyvon telling Zimmerman ‘you’re going to die tonight’ is just Zimmerman’s word. I see he was knocked around pretty bad but I’m sure if Zimmerman had enough time to grab his gun from the holster he most likely could have pointed it at Treyvon. I don’t see Martin going for the gun if it is pointed directly at him. He’s a kid not a navy seal. I don’t really know what to believe but I’m convinced this could have been solved without Martin being killed. If Zimmerman hadn’t followed Martin in the first place this incident could have been avoided in its entirety. Even if Martin was guilty of whatever, he didn’t directly hurt Zimmerman or destroy his property so Zimmerman should let the police do their damn job.

I’m not convinced Treyvon was a saint. No kid is. The more I read it seems like Zimmerman is a wannabe cop. Constantly calling the police and reporting suspicious events, sounds like he was pissed off with crime in his neighborhood and unsuccessfully attempted to take the law into his own hands which resulted in an unlawful killing of a man, innocent or not. I believe Zimmerman should be charged with second degree murder at least since there are so few solid facts. Even if this was in self-defense it was still an unlawful and totally avoidable killing. That is my opinion.

Oh and have you heard everyone suddenly has a law degree?
This case is messed up enough but people’s reactions to it have been completely deplorable people both black and white should be ashamed that they even attempted to pull race into this. I don’t mean all of you but you know the ones, the loud mouthed idiot on Facebook claiming that Zimmerman got away with it because he was white or Zimmerman was right to shoot Treyvon because he was an intimidating black youth in a hood. Isn’t it funny how you’re not only racially stereotyped by so many people, then just to make it even more ridiculous you are automatically a thug because you wear a hood.

We have this problem in England too, for example I can’t go into a mall wearing a hood. There are actually laws against wearing hoods in public areas because people are afraid. That seems to be a main theme too, fear. People are not only afraid of other races but also items of clothing now too! I can’t help but look at this issue as a whole and see how stupid it is, don’t misunderstand that as me saying the whole issue of racism is not a serious thing but what I am saying is that if we didn’t make it such an issue. All of us, then race wouldn’t matter beyond being a physical difference. It would not cause these social issues that we’re seeing now.

I see now more than ever just how pathetic we can be, there’s so much wrong here. This case, people in general. I can’t even be asked to talk about it anymore. It’s just sad. The worst in humanity has come out over the course of this case. Zimmerman killed a man and justice may have failed but this doesn’t warrant people’s extreme reactions. This is sad event the entirety of it from the murder to the trial’s outcome, right through to the extreme reactions and hypocrisy. Like I said before nobody ever got up in arms over the black guy that was shot last night for his chains or because he wore the wrong colors because you all expect that stuff to happen, in fact it seems almost normal. All of you are so desensitized to daily crime and violence that it only matters when people think race was involved. In the words of a friend ‘ why can’t people just leave each-other the fuck alone?’

The thing is he’s right, if people left each-other the fuck alone nobody would be dead right now. People disgust me sometimes. Level with me here: Another Human Being Was Killed That Day. Why should it matter what color he was. He has a family, friends and he has left people behind. Try to remember that.

People are still disgustingly idiotic and hypocritical. That’s news to nobody.

Xbox One vs PS4

one

Is it me or was E3 surprisingly short this year? Seriously, I don’t know. It seems much shorter than last year. I’ve heard a lot of different reasons for this like Microsoft pulled funding from E3 after their console flopped. That could just be Microsoft haters hating. I don’t even know who funds E3. In fact I don’t know too much about E3. I just catch it every to see what games I can look forward too. I went through a stage of playing very few games and buying even fewer. I thought it was just me growing up and getting older but it seems it was just my slump and lack of money. With my job problem solved I’ve been replaying fallout 3. I’ve got my woman to thank for that, she reminded me how much I loved the vidya. Yup… I got a gamer. I’m lucky I’ve been told.

Lets take a little walk down memory lane right back to the Xbox, before the Xbox came out I had owned a PlayStation, PlayStation one and PlayStation 2. The Xbox looked awesome but most of all it had Halo on it, due to a summer playing that game with friends I wanted to own it. I could have brought an Xbox but around the same time I discovered a social life and other things so I never bothered, with all the issues the Xbox had I’m glad I didn’t. I waited long enough that the Xbox 360 and even longer to avoid the problems with the 360, it all paid off. To be honest I’ve been happy with my Xbox 360 experience. I’ve gone through two since about six months after it came out and I’ve played some great games on it. Never got live because I didn’t really care for paying for it. It’s kinda sad to think about this but I brought the Xbox 360 for Halo…

Enter the PS3, I should have gotten one earlier but as usual no money, waited out any issues it had and yeah never got around to it due to spending money traveling and such. I’m going to be buying one in little under a month for a few reasons. I’ve missed a whole generation of titles that I’ve always loved for example Metal Gear Solid, Kojima’s games were always masterpieces I enjoyed the depth and the story telling/cinematic were amazing. I’ve been a stealth freak since Tenchu Stealth Assassins in the 90’s. Anyway back to the point, free online because why should I have to pay for a 12-year-old homophobe to scream profanities at me and cry like a little girl when his mother/father catch him? Another great thing is Sony isn’t full of tight-fisted SOB’s who won’t let you share games, great thing about having a girlfriend who is a ps3 gamer is that she can send you a hell of a lot of games! The final thing is that most people I know moved to ps3 after owning an Xbox. Finally Battlefield>Call of duty. That is all.

I loved Halo but I think I’ve grown out of it, I didn’t even play Halo 4 and now that nobody owns and Xbox anymore I doubt I ever will. I love a lot of games on Xbox but they are available on a better console in most cases. I’m always going to go with the better choice, the one that most benefits me and the better service. The things I’ve previously mentioned plus The Xbox one’s total flop at E3 was the last nail in the coffin for me. I’m going back to Sony begging for forgiveness. Telling her I made a mistake and I can change. My friends have been recommending the ps3 to me for sometime their main reason include:

>Battlefield (read in a dey turk our jrrrbs voice, so like burrrtlefiiiilld!)
>Far less 12 year-old children.
>PlayStation Network won’t kill you for modding.
>Shared games
>Old titles I love. (soft coercion)
>Free PSN.

Those reasons were enough for me to consider it after about a year of them banging on about it. So yeah I’m purchasing a ps3. My reasoning may be cheap but the benefits outweigh the cost and any cons if there are any. Now more on E3. Sony nailed it as evidenced by amazon pre-order sales. So lets look at how the Xbox one flopped. To begin, the design of the console and control are lazy and seemed to have regressed, there’s nothing about it that impresses me if anything it’s too big. Another thing is that you cannot play games from the previous generation on it, something Sony have had down since the PlayStation 2, I don’t know if this is Microsoft trying to create an Apple style monopoly forcing you to buy more of their products for compatibility reasons. This move was widely rejected by the gaming community, I mean only one company could get away with that sort of shit, Apple. Bad move Microsoft, strike one.

You can’t share games, again Sony have nailed this one. Tell me how, in a whole console generation, Microsoft haven’t caught onto this great idea. Nobody will buy games you say? People are more likely to try and buy more games due to the limited capacity of memory and the fact that people like to own something physical. A shorter one which I don’t really think is too bad but still frowned upon is that they made their console so that it has to be connected to the internet and yet they still expect you to pay their online fee, sure they’ve added TV and such but I’d rather go watch my actual TV that I’ve already payed for. For most this feature is useless and does nothing to retract from this massive flop. Yet another massive mistake was Microsoft making you check in online once every 24 hours , what about those of us who have work and you know…lives? The more I see about the next generation of Xbox console the more I’m convinced it’s for kids. There’s also a little issue with not being able to utilize the complete memory capacity of your console. That’s sure to piss people off.

Now my final gripe, the real bullet in the back of the Xbox One is the Kinect. I always hated this thing, I’d never use one and I’ve been against this sort of thing since the WII. Even they seem to have stepped up their game while Microsoft stumbled through E3. I’ve seen my girlfriend use her Kinect but she even prefers the PS3 over the Xbox. As far as I’m aware most gamers, casual and hardcore rejected the Kinect and yet Microsoft dump more money into it and make it essential when they could have used that money for better features or whatever, just something to improve the sorry state of their new console. Over than that there’s the issue of privacy, this couldn’t have come at a worse time for Microsoft with the NSA whistle-blower and people realizing their private lives are not so private. A device you can be monitored on being on and connected to the internet at all times could be used to record you. This feature was bound to cause backlash in the first place, the whole NSA thing is just fuel on a fire.

Xbox is done for most gamers, especially adults. There are Xbox fan boys who will stay with Xbox, if you can settle for a sub-par product because of loyalty or stupidity good for you. You might say I’m fan-boying here but that’s not the case. Remember I don’t even own a PS3 yet. I will get a PS4 but I’m going to wait out any issues, plus the PS3 has enough games to keep me busy for a long time.  Talking of issues with the console Sony’s PS3 didn’t have half the issues that were faced by the Xbox due to poor quality materials and manufacture. I’m sure Xbox one owners will be enjoying their red rings for the first six months of their purchase. Another personal gripe of mine is with my favorite game/series Fallout. Fallout has its flaws, it can be a buggy game but I love it, see? I’m willing to forgive flaws and imperfections… Anyway the loading screens for Xbox are amazingly long. I recognize that Fallout is a big game but it seems the Xbox can’t handle it where I’ve seen nowhere near the same amount of problems with Xbox.

I consider this a fair review, maybe you don’t. It just seems to me that Sony is more in-tune with the demands of their user-base than Microsoft, this is evidenced by their replies to the concerns of gamers. Sony seems to care more about its customers. They’ve made their share of mistakes but they’ve always made up for them and settled them with fairness as far as I’m aware. Of the two products and services offered the PS4 and Sony in general are the best choice for someone who likes to game minus the bullshit. Microsoft needs a miracle, it’s a good thing they have the funds they do. A mistake this huge can and has put companies out of business. Hey Microsoft… do try not to turn into Apple because I still love your computers and OS.

Misanthropist.
