Firstly I have to give special mention to my sibling. She’s hard headed and quicker to anger than I am. I’m quite proud of her actually. I expected her to lose her temper and end up dismissed. I also forgot to mention I work with my sister…

Basically I armed her with the law and we went over it all before hand but for some reason my sister was dragged in alone on the pretext that she was some kind of ring leader. She denied that, stated what we had spoken about and basically they outlined the companies policy on whistle blowing.

This isn’t the government so I don’t have to fear assassination. They may as well have raised a white flag. They’re protecting themselves on the pretext that my sister is afraid of losing her job. She isn’t. After they realised this they had no choice but to capitulate seeing as they’re moving against the law.

In short the whole thing is getting cancelled. My sister affected the work place and the managers on the floor are on her side because nobody wants to stay that late. It’s unreasonable and we are unable to do so, for the most part at least. Three of my colleagues left over it.

Everything came together quite nicely. Almost like chess. The pawns went forth and we lost a few by their own choice. All the knights, rooks and bishops did their part. Then the queen forced their King into a checkmate. I can’t take all the credit. A thank you to those who write the legislation that stops us from being abused by our employers.

I’m very proud of my baby sister for acting as the queen in this game. It was strange to watch as what I had set in place unfolded. I can only liken it to flicking back and forth between channels watching two shows at once. Like watching the first domino fall safe in the knowledge that the rest will follow it.

It went better than I expected. Knowledge is power I suppose.

Tax…

Posted in England, Government/government bodies., Work with tags , , , , on February 29, 2016 by MISANTHROPIST

There was an interesting vote at work today on the issue of our employment. Some are self employed and others like myself are on contract. To you Americans this probably seems stupid but I honestly can’t be asked with the hassle of my own tax.

Or I couldn’t. I’ve done some reading and now understand my taxes well and understand deductions. I understand deductions quite well. It is more work but at the end of the day I will be the beneficiary of that work unless I decided to hire an accountant.

I’m wary of the taxman. I don’t like HMRC much because I’ve experienced a lot of fuckery as a result of their mistakes. I’ll make sure I make no mistakes on my side. Looks like I’ll be paying 20% after my personal allowance. It looks doable from my perspective.

I just need to see what I can deduct. I have a few ideas already. It’s kinda funny how I was against it and now I’m thinking of what I can deduct from my taxes. I’ve decided I don’t care anymore. If it comes to paying my own tax I’ll have a plan. I’ve already got three quarters of a plan.

I’ll find out tomorrow either way. Employment is getting interesting. I just want to get paid already. I promise I’ll stop talking about work now.

ISIS, UK Govt dealing with extremism.

Now I don’t usually get into politics, wars, religion and things like that unless I’m outwardly chucking salt but this time it is different, this is important. I posted this up on Facebook and there was little to no attention paid to it which is sad because it means my peers aren’t educated enough to understand the far-reaching implications of this issue, and if they are unable or more so unwilling to understand and engage these issues we’re already fucked. Mine is a generation of apathy for which we may all pay the price one day in the future.

Recently my Government proposed laws to bar people who fought for the Islamic State from returning to Britain. Many people are outraged and I understand that sentiment, a lot of us are angry and even I myself was swept into this line of thought. It does seem like a good idea when in fact it is far from it. People, including myself, have reacted emotionally and not rationally to this issue. When I actually stand back and realize what a terrible idea this is I cannot help but wonder if this is an attempt by the current government to gain the popular vote for the upcoming elections or just a misguided attempt to deal with a problem that by all accounts has grown out of control.

So where to begin? Let’s start simple shall we?
By not allowing these people to return home because we assume they are terrorists we are casting aside due process and the right to be innocent until proven guilty. If we allow this to happen we are directly contributing to the erosion of our civil liberties/rights. I know many would argue that terrorists don’t have civil/human rights but there’s the rule of all or none. If we forfeit the rights of others then we are in effect forfeiting our own. It’s all well and good when it is a suspected terrorist or someone who is suspected to have engaged in war crimes but what happens when it is one of our own? When the individual is in fact innocent or there a case of mistaken identity? By that time it will not matter because we’ve discarded the processes put in place to protect us, by then we’re already screwed. And that aside, governments have never abused their power before right?

These people are citizens of the United Kingdom, in being citizens they are subject to the laws of our nation. We cannot just ignore or export the problem, they were born and raised in the UK and it is our responsibility to deal with them appropriately. Also a lot of people here maintain an attitude towards those living in ISIS held territory that pertains to ‘They aren’t us, fuck them, let them fend for themselves.’ If you open your eyes, aside from skin colour and religion they are you. Those people are human beings and we have a responsibility to them, nobody deserves to have to put up with this sort of shit. Many people maintain the simplistic view that our money should not be spent feeding, housing and clothing these individuals in one of many wonderful prison facilities across the land but if that is the case then what do they propose we do allow them to run around in their sandbox to rape and murder at will? I’d much rather they be locked away where they can be of no further to anyone.

A lot of people also argue against attempts at radicalization/rehabilitation, many of them not realizing that a lot of the individuals who travelled overseas originally did so to fight against an opressive regime. Others did leave with the intention of fighting for ISIS but when they got there it wasn’t what the believed it would be, such is the folly of idealists. Many have tried to return home, few people actually have the stomach for war let alone outright genocide of a people. That isn’t to say we should feel sorry for them or they should not be punished, they deserve to be punished to the fullest extent of our laws. Again, we should deal with our problem. When you do not allow these individuals to return home they becomes stateless and in making them stateless we create much more than an individual who make a huge fucking mistake, we create a desperate situation that can only lead to more violence. We create an enemy of the state with no other option but to fight against us.

Even without considering those points allowing them to return home and monitoring their activities would provide valuable intelligence in our fight against ISIS. Another main point of this post is that there are many more intelligent ways of dealing with our current situation. Barring them from reentering the United Kingdom is the absolute wrong answer. If this isn’t a misguided attempt at dealing with our problem and rather an attempt to gain the popular vote then our leadership is even more incompetent than I ever imagined, dangerously so. The fact that many of my contemporaries don’t understand or are indifferent to my points about civil liberties is saddening. It basically means we’re already waiting to get fucked. I can understand people being angry and reacting emotionally to what is a barbaric and desperate situation but what I cannot understand nor forgive is the indifference, that is worse than the stupidity. That indifference has allowed some of the greatest evils in history.

People are stupid, our government more so and I have very little faith in my generation. Either way this is our problem and it’s about time we dealt with it, intelligently and precisely.

E-cigarettes. Cigarettes, Nicotine… what’s the difference?

ecig
Recently I’ve thought a bit about quitting, the financial benefits would be good and the health benefits even better. Somebody once said to me, on gambling, quit while you’re ahead. Maybe that would be wisest. My thoughts about quitting were all well and good until one day my friend, who is soon to be a father, came over and started puffing on an E-cigarette, first time I actually tried one. Not bad to be honest. I began to consider using them as an aid to quitting. Thinking hey, I’m still getting the nicotine while avoiding more harmful chemicals that are in cigarettes.  As my consideration became more and more serious I decided to do what most people with half a brain would do, research. I’d looked up similar products when they first became available.

There were two issues I was aware of one of those is nicotine overdose, pretty easy to avoid but you really do have to make yourself stop puffing on it as it doesn’t burn down. Avoiding that is common sense, some people lack that but what can you do? The second which was a real issue was cheap products coming from china, low quality heating element could cause a problem if it flaked and entered the lungs. This can be avoided by buying higher end E-cigarettes. As with anything the price paid usually dictates the quality of the product. These were two issues that could pretty easily be avoided but another bothered me slightly, something I’ve been saying for a little while now: The possible ill effects of ‘vaping’ may not materialize for decade or so. With renewed interest I did a second more-thorough round of research.

Firstly a little Google because well even I can be lazy sometimes. I quickly noticed that E-cigarettes aren’t approved by the FDA or any other organization, to be honest it is way too soon for these things to be approved and marked safe for use as an aid to quitting. I kinda expected that with the limited time they’ve been widely available. Second place I looked I wasn’t so lazy, I do love The Lancet. It was very informative as was my third stop CDC. Some new facts came to light about quality of manufacture not being anywhere near consistent and the cartridges containing Formaldehyde and other carcinogens. Strange for me to be concerned about really considering the crap I already put in my body.

I only ever looked at E-cigarettes from my own perspective, as an aid to quitting or at the very least a safer delivery system for a very addictive drug. The CDC had mentioned a number of younger people finding E-cigarettes attractive also a percentage that had never smoked but tried E-cigarettes. There’s now this moral quandary as to whether the whole concept of making a very addictive substance more widely available and appealing to younger people. My real issue with them is the lack of regulation. Apparently the United Kingdom and EU, doing it right for once, are planning on regulating E-cigarettes as they would any medicine. There are fears that this would push prices up and make what could be a safer alternative to smoking, less accessible. It seems that in general everybody is on the fence. Honestly I wish I had the equipment to test a batch of E-liquid.

Nothing is conclusive but from what I’ve seen E-cigarettes appear to be somewhat effective at helping people towards quitting. Then there was that other thing The Lancet mentioned about the tobacco companies having huge stakes in E-Cigarettes. It argues that approving and regulating them could lead to the renormalization of smoking habits which would in effect go against everything the worlds various health services and numerous campaigners have worked for. As I mentioned my main problem is the quality and pharmacology of the liquid. I never much liked the idea of breathing in ‘aerosol and other additives’ that’s a little to vague for me. I like that it says ‘CONTAINS HYDROGEN CYANIDE, BENZINE…’ on my cigarette packet. It isn’t pleasant but it is honest. I value honesty especially if I’m choosing to poison myself with your particular brand.

You can also get a widely variable dosage from each cartridge. Nicotine can be lethal might I remind you, I’m guessing that liquid would be a decent purity if not high purity so an accidental overdose is quite possible as mentioned by both the CDC and Lancet. Suddenly this ‘safer alternative is looking very risky. The CDC takes such wonderful field notes, I read about genotoxins, and animal carcinogens which is always a good time. The article implied that there are ‘therapeutic E-cigarettes’ that are regulated. I’ll have to look into that. There’s also the increased risk of a cardiac event which is usually associated with the usage of nicotine.

It appears to me that if they were regulated or I could purchase quality E-liquid they would be a viable solution to my habit. Due to unknown associated health risks I’d probably only use them for a short amount of time before complete cessation. That seems like the smartest idea other than writing them off as too risky. A man who inhales over 4000 toxic chemicals on a regular basis is suddenly concerned about one or two. Doesn’t make much sense really. I think I’ll have to look into the therapeutic E-cigarettes. If I have to spend a little more for quality I don’t really mind. Either way it’ll be less than I’m currently spending on tobacco. Prices are ridiculous nowadays.

From one gamble to another it seems.

David ‘1984’ Cameron.

DC
Hello again readers, today I’m going to be writing about a special individual. Prime Minister of the United Kingdom: David Cameron. By all accounts a complete wanker. I once saw a wiki-leaks cable where the Central Intelligence Agency said something along the lines of  ‘An ineffective and indecisive leader.’ Good old CIA bang on, as per usual. If the NSA is reading this please pass a message onto the CIA for me? You didn’t have to spend all that money and use all that technology when I could have told you this after the first year of his reign as glorious overlord of the British government. Now usually this posh wanker is politically impotent and I really can’t say he’s done anything for anyone in his time as PM but his latest stunt would make Hitler, Stalin and Mao so proud.

1292856439111
You may remember my ‘dey turk our porn’ post from a while back, well this is the evolution of the bullshit we thought that we as a nation had put to rest. Cameron is redoubling his efforts and trying to pass the same law under the guise of tackling terrorism and extremism. For our safety! 1984 anyone?
This should be the last straw, dare I say that we were better off under Blair, I know I’m not voting for anything or anyone that supports censorship under the guise of protection. I will vote for anything or anyone that gets this idiot out of office. How is he even in office? He’s a posh wanker who is so out of touch with the realities of the common man that it isn’t even funny. Only under our current government could you be arrested for comments you made over the internet… We’re a country slowly being stripped of our freedoms.

scumbag cameron

I hear many people say write to your MP but is there really any point when they don’t address the question you’re asking, skirt around it and treat you like an idiot. If your local MP is conservative there’s no fucking point putting pen to paper because why would they concern themselves with opinions of the unwashed masses? Once they have your vote they cease to give a fuck about your opinion entirely. The next election cannot come around fast enough. I mean voting conservative is great if you’re middle class/upper class and have plenty of money but if you’re not either of those things you might as well grab the nearest phallic object and sodomize yourself with it repeatedly because that’s basically what you’re doing by voting for these  people.

A lot of people wonder why my generation are uninterested in politics and for the first time in my life I can say I understand it. What’s the point of playing a losing game? You vote for nationalists you get Nazis, you vote for conservatives you get the beginnings of a totalitarian regime, you vote for Liberal Democrats you get political impotence. Who is left to vote for that actually has a chance of winning. I wonder if the Monster Raving Looney Party are still on ballot papers?

Sorry, ranting a little bit there. No, I’m not sorry. I’m genuinely pissed off. They’re doing this because ‘hurr durr extremism’ but I’m pretty sure our nations security services were doing just fine dealing with it before someone had the bright idea to censor the last bastion of free press. This whole censorship idea is unnecessary and frankly disgusting. They are basically censoring contrary opinions and as nasty and as much as I disagree with them I will defend these assholes rights to express them. If we allow this then when does it stop? How far do these powers reach?
How long will it be before we cannot express our disdain against for our government before being thrown into work camps or re-education. Does it end before or after we live in a police state resembling George Orwell’s classic 1984?

wanker
Somebody send this idiot a copy of that book and make him read to see if he can draw the parallels that everyone else has. Back to what I was previously saying. If someone posts an extremist viewpoint on Reddit or 4chan then will big brother block these websites too? These powers are a little far-reaching for my liking, maybe they’ll even use these new powers to silence political opponents or who knows. All I know is that this cannot be allowed to happen for the sake of the freedom and my country. I hope that maybe the EU will step in a do something about this because in a word, this is just wrong. The quicker this Stalin wannabe is kicked out of office the better or I might end up in a gulag for this post.

I thought I saw a tear roll down Kim-Jong-Un’s cheek.

Dey turk our porn!

ImageSo I’ve just read that the UK government is planning on blocking pornography… under the guise of ‘think of the children’ what a pile of crap. Apparently we’re supposed to opt in if we want to be able to access pornographic material. The first gripe I have here is: why should we have to opt in to access the material? People who don’t want to view that type of explicit material should opt out. The whole think of the children thing is bullshit, why should we suffer because a few lazy bastards/sub par parents can’t take the time out to either supervise their children’s internet usage or buy the appropriate software that does the job for them.

IF we do opt in to being able to view porn will our privacy be protected or will we be added to a list of morally depraved people who opted in and should be watched for signs of sexual deviancy? The law is proposed in such a way that it makes everyone who is against it appear a depraved sexual deviant who doesn’t care about the children.
Apparently the government knows whats best for us… 1984 here we come.

IF this law is passed and censorship of the internet begins where does it stop? Anything the government decides is immoral will be block, sites like Reddit and 4chan will be in the firing line. In fact most of the internet would be in the firing line. Our government is so hypocritical, it condemns china and other countries that are pro censorship and yet it is proposing censorship in the same breath.

We soon forgot about CISPA, PIPA etc… and I have a feeling the country might just lay down and take it. It’s sad that we aren’t already up in arms over this. We obey their laws, pay their ridiculous taxes and pay for our own internet, why the hell should the government be able to restrict what we view. This is a gross encroachment on our rights and freedoms, even at this stage.

I see this as an attempt to save David Cameron’s sub par career, party and leadership from doom during the next election. I have a real problem with that little rich twat with his Eaton education. I have no issues with rich people in general especially if they’re self-made but this man is so out of touch with the realities of the common man that he was a poor choice for leadership in beginning, but alas money speaks volumes.

I’d rather bring back Tony Blair, fuck, I’d rather have George W Bush running the UK. Cameron knows nothing of hard work, nothing of hardship. The faster we vote him out of parliament the better. The worst part of all this is people don’t seem to care that they are being stripped of their rights. This is bigger than porn. This is about censorship of the last free medium, being stripped of our rights, government hypocrisy and some out of touch twat’s political agenda. Please don’t let him ruin our country for another term.

Of all the things I could be annoyed about…. porn. I’ve hated the Conservative Party and Cameron for longer than I can remember, the sooner the public realize what an idiot Cameron is the better. I’m gonna stop now because this post/argument isn’t even constructive, I’m just surprised he even has the gall to propose such censorship under the guise of protecting children…

On the Connecticut school shooting.

On the day of the shooting I was having a pretty normal day until I looked at my Facebook Feed.  A friend I’d met while out drinking in America posted about how he was deeply saddened by a school shooting. I ask a few other people I know from America and I start to get reports that there was a shooting in Connecticut but no real details. I guess everyone was still reeling from what had happened, so I got on the internet and began to search it up. I expected maybe a high-school, technical college or university but not an Elementary School. It’d quickly turn into a dark day for myself and the rest of the world.

It turns out that this one mentally ill guy had decided to take his own mother out and killed a whole bunch of teachers and kids along with her. I find myself asking, how the fuck could you do something like that? I myself hate a lot about people and the world but I could never bring myself to hate children in 99% of cases so it bewilders me how you can be mean to a child let alone shooting one. I just don’t get it. I hear about shootings all the time but it rarely affects me in the way this has. I’m generally angry now, could mental health professionals have helped this guy? Did his mother’s pride or fear stop her from having him evaluated. Generally these behaviors don’t just manifest, there are warning signs. So many questions and so few answers. All I can really say is that this never should have happened. Anywhere. Ever.

I do not personally think that the right to own a weapon or defend yourself should be effected drastically by this tragedy. I think it is time for tighter controls on whom is allowed to own a gun, like a psych evaluation before someone is licensed and over stops and measured to ensure that possessing a gun is made harder to achieve. I know that these people would get a gun somewhere else but I think we should make it harder for those nut-jobs to get a gun legitimately so that no guilt can be place on the government or gun-shops for these tragedies when they do occur. If someone decides to get a gun illegally the fault doesn’t only fall on the murderer but the individual who sold him the weapon as well. I realize that making my views on gun control known at this point in time but I do feel that this tragedy should be something we can at least learn from, even if the lesson is a terrible one and the price so high.

Later on in disbelief I watch Obama’s speech about it and I think I share in the disbelief of the American people on this sad occasion. They were just kids… I really can’t believe someone would actually do this. I’ve heard a lot of words in the wake of this disaster, words of anger, words of despair and words of sorrow and of condolence but of all of them this one makes the most sense to me. This is in response to the question ‘Why did this happen?’ Something we’ve all been wondering.

“It’s because of the way the media reports it, Freeman says. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single *victim* of Columbine? Disturbed people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he’ll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody. CNN’s article says that if the body count “holds up”, this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer’s face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer’s identity? None that I’ve seen yet. Because they don’t sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you’ve just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next. You can help by forgetting you ever read this man’s name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news.”

This might not cover the reasons for the shootings but whoever this is has a point about how this should be dealt with in terms of reporting it to the public, maybe names shouldn’t be released until after the investigation. The way the Media deals with these situations is just plain wrong, they just want money. I understand that news is a business but its strange to see how their unethical practices don’t just affect celebrities but also victims of terrible shootings. Young victims nonetheless. They sell their stories as informative but really it’s more like gossip for profit, they talk about what is on everyone’s minds, they deliver semi accurate answers to the big questions in society. Then again, why am I surprised? The media have been sickening me since before I can remember.

Later on I was surfing the Internets, as you do, and I came upon a thread that informs me the Westboro Baptist Church is planning to picket the Connecticut victim’s funerals. That instantly pissed me off, how can anyone do this? I know the Westboro Baptists were a bunch of assholes but I didn’t think they’d touch this with a ten foot pole. I learned a lot about them, apparently the higher levels in the church are lawyers and they pay for their little ‘protests’ when people react and punch them in the face, which we’re in no doubt that they deserve, they file suits and sue this funds their outings. People wanted to beat them, shoot them, have the police remove them among many other colorful things involving ‘crucifying the bastards.’  I cannot blame these people for their anger, it is justified. Ignoring them would only work half of the time but whatever you do they’ll get attention because of……….The Media, you guessed it!

I began to wonder if a local emergency law could be passed banning protests. Even better if Obama could give a speech at the funeral service, I’m sure you aren’t able to protest within the vicinity of the President or Secret Service. Either way something has to be done. Then we had people defending the right to free speech under the first amendment, not because they supported the church but because they were afraid of their right to free speech would be taken away. I had someone arguing that if WBC were escorted out of the vicinity of the media and the grieving families then what would stop this happening to anyone else. I fail to see how a one time event would impact your civil liberties you concerned ass. In case you forgot a lot of people, kids and adults died and are being laid to rest, I think you can make a little concession for a few damn hours to let these people have closure and peace. It doesn’t take a psychologist to tell you that WBC members protesting at their funerals will have a general negative impacts.

When does Free Speech become a Hate speech?
It doesn’t take a genius to see that the Westboro Baptist Church is a hate group and should be treated as such. They target anyone to get publicity. I’d go as far as to call them opportunist vermin. How can we possibly protect such profanity and bullshit under free speech. It shouldn’t happen but I’m bracing myself for the possibility it will. I hope not, for the parents, for the children, for the relatives and for everyone. They’re not the smartest at WBC but they should be smarter than to fuck with grieving men and woman who have just lost children. I don’t condone violence against these fucking idiots but what they get is what they deserve.  They’re disgusting and its an outrage that they should be able to protest a funeral at all.

On a positive note Anonymous have posted details of the WBC online, so they’ll be getting a call from anonymous at some point soon. I do not condone illegal activities but I cannot help but empathize with their cause.

My misanthropy has hit a high listening to people dither around when there is a clear answer to what must be done here, the solutions and safeguards are available but nobody is implementing. Suddenly we are worried about the rights of a hate group over the rights of the grieving families dealing with the aftermath of a massacre. It’s really disgusting to me. Other than that it is just sad, a terrible thing that never should have happened. One thing that did shine through was the actions of that teacher who hid her class and sacrificed herself in order to save the children. It convinces me that despite the nut-jobs, assholes and detritus there are some good people in the world. I honestly wish I had never read that first Facebook post of the day.
