Quote of the day.

Posted in Uncategorized on June 30, 2013 by MISANTHROPIST

“Socializing is as exhausting as giving blood. People assume we loners are misanthropes, just sitting thinking, ‘Oh, people are such a bunch of assholes,’ but it’s really not like that. We just have a smaller tolerance for what it takes to be with others. It means having to perform. I get so tired of communicating.”

Disclaimer: I know that title implies that there will be a daily quote but, we regret to inform you, this is not the case. Don’t tell me how to live my liiiife!
Another thing… Tumblr. You hurt my skull.

All the good foods.

I’m old-fashioned in that I really don’t care that certain foods are bad for me. I love food, too much sometimes. Lately my diet has expanded greatly from Indian mango lassi, which I’d recommend to anyone and the other day I had an amazing brie and bacon roll. Anyways I’ll get to the point. My mother is a carer and many of her colleagues send us food back, I’ve tried all sorts of African food including barracuda which is a really good. A lot of African food is, they cook the meat until it just about falls off the bone, in a word: Glorious.  Anyone who is African, has African friends or African family will know that went they cook oftentimes they cook a crap load of food so I end up with something new to try at least twice a week.

One of my mother’s old people is from Sri Lanka and a Buddhist, she’s a lovely woman and I recently met her in person and congratulated her on her culinary prowess. If you ever get a chance to try Sri Lankan food do so. It’s a damn shame she has Parkinson’s and it will only be a few years before it gets bad. She’s an amazing cook really, I’ll have to take down a few recipes. I like to go to my mother’s work. The old people love me and are always trying to give me things. It is like having multiple grandmothers. More about the Sri Lankan lady. Her Buddhist friends come from the local temple perform blessings and other services in exchange for a cooked meal. I like that its rare nowadays that someone does something out of kindness.

I can’t wait to try her next dish, Buddhists are awesome. If I were ever to choose a religion it’d be Buddhism.

Tips and tricks from old guys.

Posted in Smoking with tags , , , , , , on June 29, 2013 by MISANTHROPIST

Besides being old, old people have a wealth of knowledge and you should listen to them some times. I was at my friend’s place complaining that the tobacco I brought was dry as a desert when he dropped this knowledge on me, wet two filter tips under the tap and leave them in the tobacco tin for a few hours. What do you know, it worked like a dream. I’m definitely going to start asking older people for life pro-tips.

As you know I’ve been paid and I needed a new house phone because our nine year old Binatone phone died one morning, I’m usually pretty anti phone but its crazy how not having one for a week can screw with your life in general. I guess I realized how vital telecommunications are. I thought since I’m spending the money on one I might as well get a good one, paid about fifty pounds for it. It has a loud speaker, answer machine and other features that my old phone was lacking. I’m happy with what I spent and what it does. Panasonic is usually a marker of quality electronics and this was very much the case with my latest purchase. If anyone needs a new landline I’d recommend this phone for home, the office or whatever.

Kitten Cat

Posted in animals with tags , , , , , , , , on June 29, 2013 by MISANTHROPIST

So my first paycheck came in a few days back, it’s half gone already but on the plus side I’m debt free, I have a new land-line and I’m one cat up. That special lady in my life is a cat fanatic, she loves her cats and is well on her way to becoming a crazy cat lady. She’s looked after countless kittens so I have my kitty cat encyclopedia for the stuff I’ve forgotten, its been a good ten years since we last had a kitten. At the moment she’s asleep on my bed, I forgot how damn cute they are. The kittens are from a friend’s cat a ginger and white father, black and white mother so she’s calico. She has a really beautiful coloration.

This all began when my sister said she wanted one and decided to drag me along after work to see the kittens, I saw them last when they were just a few days old, their eyes weren’t even open yet. I went in and she was the last one, this little kitten comes bounding over to my little sister and sat on her feet. She instantly fell in love with her and it was pretty much decided then and there. I was buying that kitten whether I wanted to or not and besides with my sister cooing and this little kitten asleep on my jeans how could I say no?

Sometimes I think that’s why my woman puts up with me, because I love animals and I’ll never say no to one. We were thinking of names for the kitten for a few hours and in the end we narrowed it down to Nova, Juno and Indiana. In the end Indiana won. It was originally my suggestion but my sister hijacked it and eventually she got her way using this clever reasoning: You’re going to call her, kitten, Catten, poospe and all the other names you generally call cats anyways so it doesn’t matter what we name her. She had a rather good point actually. In-case anyone was wondering why Indiana, that’s the state I went to in murica.

So yeah tl;dr version: I have a Kitten.

I can’t believe I’ve been writing here for nearly three years…

I just came to the realization that I’ve been writing here for three years. I was sitting there wondering where this clusterfuck was headed exactly, I looked at stat summaries for the blog because I was sure the last two months have been pretty quiet on here then realized it had been three years, its been a crazy three years, its funny how if you’re not looking life will quietly pass you by like that. A lot has changed since three years ago, including this blog. Looking at my numbers I think its time that maybe this blog adapt with these changes or stagnate.

It’s been a strange three years, here’s too many more.

I don’t know if I’m a prophet or a drug dealer.

drug-dealer

I feel like a drug dealer. I recently introduced my sister to Reddit. For as long as I can remember she’s been sending me links to things I’ve seen days or sometimes weeks previously. It gets tired sending her ‘ Yeah I saw this one already’ at least 20 times in a single week. After many months of this I’ve decided to introduce her to Reddit. It’s good that she finally understands some of the things I’ve been casually laughing about but at the same time It Has Begun… She’s wasting hours on Reddit now. I’m glad she recognizes that she should stay away from Reddit once the new semester starts because we all know what’ll happen. She’ll drop out and become a Redditard who sits on her ass all day and lols at in-jokes and memes. I’m happy she has something to do when she’s bored and doesn’t bother me directly with things I’ve already seen but at the same time I feel like I’ve just dealt heroin to my own sister.

What have I done?
